A CONSCIOUS PROJECT

SAILING CONSCIOUSLY WITH GINETTE

Ginette Catamaran’s design primarily focused on optimizing its environmental impact, as well as its comfort on board. A promise for a more responsible cruising experience and absolute luxury onboard.

As a way to optimize this catamaran for sailing and make it as light as possible, we contracted an expert based in New Zealand. Blair MacLeod has worked and advised sailing superyachts, often competing in regattas, such as the renowned Millennium Cup. He was the ideal collaborator to enhance our sails and use wind power to our advantage.

Another notable improvement was the placement of solar panels on the rooftop of the flybridge, another way to use the created energy for the catamaran.

A CUISINE THAT PROMISES TO BE ETHICAL AND CONSCIOUS OF ITS ENVIRONMENT

Meals inspired by the islands, made perfect with the catch of the day and the fruits and vegetables from the local markets. Tania suggests deliciously healthy and seasonal menus inspired by her trips and her passion for cooking.

In an effort to be more eco-conscious, Ginette Catamaran offers a deliciously healthy and mainly vegetarian cuisine, with the exception of fish for which we favor ethical and local fishing. Thanks to the local markets and according to the destinations, we will always offer you flavorful and seasonal fruits and vegetables. We only serve free-range eggs.

On Ginette, you will not find sodas, refined sugars, or fried dishes. You will not find any meats either, however, on special request we will source only the most ethical and respectable meats.

In order to reduce our waste, we favor fresh ingredients with as little packaging as possible and we avoid plastic at all costs. During your stay, you will find jute shopping bags signed Ginette to accompany you on your outings to the local markets.

*When booking, we will share with you a preference list in order to be aware of any food intolerance or preference when preparing menus.

HEALTHY PRODUCTS FOR OUR OCEANS

TO PRESERVE OUR ENVIRONMENT, GINETTE CATAMARAN PROVIDES YOU WITH PRODUCTS THAT ARE HEALTHY FOR YOU AND FOR THE PLANET.

No need to burden yourself traveling with your shampoo bottles; a selection of products adapted to your skin and to the protection of our marine ecosystem will be available on board. This includes hair, body and sun care products; such as TO’A sun sticks, a committed Polynesian brand, actively engaged in preserving the oceans by reducing the amount of sunscreen we pour in them over the years. The same goes for the cleaning products used by our crew!

Finally, we are mindful of our water and energy consumption, which is why we will kindly ask our guests not to have their sheets or towel changed on a daily basis.

LONG TERM SOLIDARITY FOR OUR OCEANS WITH RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

In an eco-responsible approach, we wanted to make Ginette catamaran available for research projects, as well as - upon her arrival in Polynesia - educational and solidarity projects.

As part of our transatlantic crossing, on our way to French Polynesia, an expedition team will have the opportunity to join our crew and study the Sargasso Sea. It takes its name from the so-called “Sargassum” algae which have the particularity of floating, and accumulates on the surface in this area. Between the currents, the winds, global warming and agriculture, it is difficult today to identify a "single" responsible cause for the proliferation of Sargassum.

All concerned by the survival of our oceans, Ginette Catamaran hopes - through solidarity educational projects for the Polynesian youth - to educate this generation to take care of the beauty they are surrounded with. It is by going directly in contact with this world that we want to protect it. On the program: eco-tours, meetings with activists and local organizations (such as, Coral Gardeners), beach cleaning missions...

Finally, Ginette Catamaran and Ginette Mo’orea are committed to the protection of coral reefs. In partnership with Coral Gardeners, each guest will receive the adoption certificate of a coral planted by them and will be able to follow its evolution over time.
